Two drawings (2020/2021)
“Because of their complexity, these two drawings were made in different phases over a period of 7 months between 2020 and 2021. These phases, sometimes almost two months apart, may have transformed the initial idea I had, based on an isolated ear of wheat on a white background that I had photographed a few years ago.
I thought I would take a more figurative route than usual.
But I avoid being in search of a result, I try not to restrict the evolution or the potential I can give to the drawing because that is what allows me to bring the figurative element into a new reality.
I simply had to reach a point of balance, both in composition and in texture and colour.
In the end, the intermediate phases were a path for the evolution of the drawing according to my state of mind, which changed many times during this particular period”.
